IDance can cater for couples or singles interested in competing in DanceSport competitions, from beginner medallist level all the way to high level competitors. DanceSport competitions include two main divisions - medallists competitions and registered competitions.
Medallist Competition
Medallist competitions are a great way to start your competition dancing. They are open to any unregistered dancers. Events such as 'best boy' and 'best girl' mean that you do not need your own partner as such to enter. You can dance with your teacher or other students, and it is you that is being judged individually, not as a couple (unless dancing in couples events). Events may include bronze level, silver and below, silver and above, gold and above, or open events, etc. You don't need any special costuming either, so costs are kept to a minimum.
Registered Competition
When you are ready to get serious about competing, probably after having some experience in medallist events, you register with the dancing society and begin competing in registered events. Registered competitions are divided into six categories in three styles - Level 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & Professional, in Modern, New Vogue & Latin American styles. Points are earned at competitions and when enough points are earned a couple 'elevates' to the next level in that particular style.
In Level 1, special costuming is not required so cost is kept low, but higher levels of competitions demand a higher standard of dress and presentation.
